Aims and scope
Acta Neuropathologica Communications (ANC) focuses on the pathogenesis of neurological disease using experimental or human tissues, molecular, cellular, biological and morphological techniques
Thematic Series - Traumatic Brain Injury
We are excited to announce the ongoing publication of a thematic series focusing on clinical, basic science, and translational studies that address current problems and knowledge gaps in TBI, which affects over 65 million people worldwide each year.
This series will feature commissioned and non-commissioned content on topics including prospective biomarkers, mechanistic studies and comorbidity links.

Featured Article - Gut microbial dysbiosis after traumatic brain injury
The influence of the gut microbiota on traumatic brain injury (TBI) is presently unknown. This knowledge gap is of paramount clinical significance as TBI patients are highly susceptible to alterations in the gut microbiota by antibiotic exposure.
This article demonstrates that antibiotic-induced gut microbial dysbiosis after TBI impacts neuroinflammation, neurogenesis, and fear memory and implicate gut microbial modulation as a potential therapeutic intervention for TBI.
